purifying spirit
Heaven and hell

Something dormant in me longs
to burst forth and express
this great and fiery bliss that is our
interconnectedness.
So long I’ve waited, hidden
deep within my stony shell
as though it would protect me from
the darkest depths of hell —
— and yet isn’t hell right here
within my
self?
hell is keeping hidden all this
brightness flowing through my veins
the molten rock that is no other
than my truest self —
— yes, it’s true, I am Earth inside
and without —
but when I break through the illusion
that Earth is hard, and cold,
and show the warmth and blazing splendor
harbored in my soul,
when I reach up to the heavens
and grasp the Sun, my self,
then you’ll see who I really am
— heaven, fused with hell.
